The first coaching session is usually attended by both the young person and their parent or guardian. This helps the coach understand the young person’s strengths and differences so that sessions can be tailored effectively. After the first session, there is a discussion between the coach, the young person, and the parent to decide what works best for future sessions. Depending on this, sessions may include both the young person and parent, only the young person, or only the parent.
Sessions are held every two weeks. During each session, the coach works with the young person to set goals, develop practical strategies and discuss their neurodiversity, helping them make progress in ways that suit them best. For under-18s, the consists of eight sessions, each lasting 30 minutes.
